What's new

Windows 12 - Microsoft starts work from March

No, it's not a typo. According to our information, Microsoft will start preparing for Windows 12 in March. In the run-up, they had already been looking for employees who would then provide additional support to the team. SwiftOnSecurity also confirms this information.

That doesn't mean that we'll see a new Windows 12 tomorrow. This can still drag on, since you start (almost) from scratch. One can assume that the Windows 10 substructure will then be completely abandoned. Windows 11 still has this substructure.

That means in plain English: What you started with Windows 10 X, to do everything new, is then really implemented in Windows 12. The latest changes in the Insider already show where the path is going. Leave old " camels " aside and only implement current things.

PS: The information from SwiftOnSecurity that two TPM modules are then required is of course a joke. But if you start now, also for the Pro, you need an internet connection and later also an MS account, you can already imagine in which direction things are going.

The core elements, some of which Microsoft has already launched with Windows 11 or will launch with the fall 2022 update (“22H2”), include:
  • Mandatory for Microsoft account in Home and Pro
  • An even stronger focus on TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot
  • Integration of the security chip “ Microsoft Pluton ”
  • Completely new substructure without the legacy
  • Take up approaches from Windows 10X

Wonder when we will see an early build. Could it be years out. Can't see it coming out anytime soon since 11 was just released.

As long as MS continues to use a 'registry' based OS and gives the user access to that registry, there will be hackers, tweakers, and work-a-rounders. I've been doing this a long time, and thoroughly enjoyed learning all the new stuff along the way, but I've found my interest waning as I've gotten older. I realize with each new OS that I'm not quite as sharp as I used to be. I now have to stop and think hard on things that used to come so naturally to me so guess 11 will be the end of the line for me. I certainly won't be buying Pluto in order to run it. I have too many dogs around here already.

If Ms built cars - I'd go back to riding horses or Harley's.

Ms probably would say that if you used another brand of Gas other than our "recommended one" the car would stop working after 5 days.

I used to use Linux distros a lot -- but then starting two years ago, they started to have serious problems. I used Ubuntu and Mint, and every once in a while, they would not reboot and I would have to use Boot-Repair to get them working again. And then later, I would have to restore from Clonezilla backup to get them working again.

Then last fall, I changed to a new ASRock motherboard with a Ryzen 5600X processor -- and had to reinstall both distros from scratch. But then, neither would reboot.

So, I installed again -- and got the same issue.

I had to ask myself, how many HOURS was I going to spend to use a distro only once -- and I answered -- NONE.

So, I have not used either since, because I'm not going to waste time installing them again.

So, every time I read some Linux fan posting about how Linux is the answer to all the problems with Windows, I have to shudder -- because that is certainly NOT the case with me!

I have tried multiple Linux distros. Ubuntu, Mint, Cinnamon, etc. The one I liked the best was called Q4OS. It's Debian based and the most similar to Windows in my opinion. I never had those booting problems but I just don't like Linux. The biggest issue for me was always drivers. Drivers for wireless internet adapters were always a problem. I always had to resort to the terminal and all that sudo crap which I hate. I detest command line interfaces and avoid them as much as possible. Another thing I don't like is the limited gaming capability. My computers are for entertainment purposes only and a fair amount of shopping, that's it. I also miss the Edge browser. I have never liked Firefox and don't care for Chrome and it's tendrils infesting everything. Productivity? What's that? I'm retired.

Linux is not an answer to anything for me.

Hi there
A company if it wants to stay in business doesn't wait until the current product line is dead before embarking on a new one. There's all sorts of "Theoretical things" that could be attempted in a lab with a new OS even if the hardware to create it won't be affordable for basic consumers for years --if ever. Ms would be quite stupid if it didn't have developments which even though might never see the light of day as complete products will appear in some form in future products.

If W11 really is the "last edition of Windows" then the new OS will be called something else. XP showed that even though it was great at the time you can't keep maintaining / extending an older OS as newer, more powerful hardware with many more features and more security appears.

With proper VR and A.I which require an inordinate amount of processing power and memory it can't be too long before we now start seeing 128 bit processors. There's a limit on how many processors you can have working on an MP system before the overhead of running them becomes so significant that performance actually degrades. With 128 bit processors you need less CPU's in an MP system to achieve the same object.

Cheers
jimbo

Windows 10 is no longer 'current' - Windows 11 is current.

Ergo, I stand by my statement.
