For Win12 you'll probably need a system with an MPU if what Panos Pany said happens, about the next version having AI Integration:

A memory protection unit (MPU), is a computer hardware unit that provides memory protection. It is usually implemented as part of the central processing unit (CPU). MPU is a trimmed down version of memory management unit (MMU) providing only memory protection support.

You do not seem to get it.

Windows 12 is no more than the name we use for a recently-recruited development team at Microsoft.

This forum is just for laughs at the moment. It was created, and people invited to join, just so it would be up & running by the time there was useful information to report [which might not be for years].

For Windows 12, I am wayyy below the specs required. That starts with my power supply! I just went into registry, tweaked a couple things and actually found it is based off of Windows 8.1

I do not think it's all a joke or why would @z3r010 would not go to all the trouble setting up a forum, because setting up one can be very time consuming & having the knowledge on what tools are needed !! So i don't think it's all a joke, it may be named something different but it will come !!!

I honestly thought it was even sooner than 4.75 years to be honest

I installed Windows 11 on an Asus Eee 10" atom netbook - using rufus. Works fine! Slow at times obviously but not as slow as Windows 10 on the same netbook.

I’m sure, no doubt it being old, that netbook will be handy for browsing and portability

When will Windows 12 be released?

According to reports, the next major version of Windows is going to launch at some point in 2024, roughly three years after Windows 11's debut. That's all we really have right now, and it might be a while before we have any more information. If past releases are any indication, Windows 12 should arrive in the fall, or at least the second half of the year, but that's not set in stone. Microsoft has denied the reports that it's working on Windows 12, but considering we're still some time away from its launch, the company could simply be holding its cards close to its chest.

In the meantime, Windows 11 will keep getting updates, and sometimes, it may get some new features, so it won't feel like the operating system is stale. Windows 11 version 22H2 was released in September with a lot of new features including Start menu folders and new touch gestures, for example. More recently, in November, we got the first "moment" update for version 22H2, which added features like File Explorer tabs. We're expecting at least two more of these moment updates in 2023, so Windows 11 will still evolve in the meantime.

I'm betting for Win12 the "supported" CPUs will need to be:

• CPU: Intel Tiger Lake (11th Gen) and beyond supports Control-Flow Enforcement Technology (CET), or AMD Zen 3 Ryzen and beyond that supports AMD shadow stacks.

Because of the new Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection they added to Win11 but on older supported CPUs that doesn't show up(like my 9900K).

I can't get Windows 12 to install on my machine.
I keep getting the same cryptic error message, "No Such Media".
Does anyone know what that means?

I will never use Windows 12 or AI. It can be very dangerous in the wrong hands.

Hi Josey, you do know you have been using AI for the last 10 years or so?
Search engines, email spam filters, translators, antivirus ie:

However, while signature detection looks for exact matches, heuristic detection looks for similar tendencies or patterns in a file’s code. As a result, it catches malware that signature detection may have missed.

The latest on the scene are LLM's(large language models).
AI is just a generic name from past science fiction.
I feel they should stick to the term "Machine learning" as "itelligence" scares some people, yes semantics is everything

All of my computers run Windows 11, but two I had to do a tweak to. my old thinkpad has a tpm chip but unsupported cpu, and my htpc has no tpm. If push comes to shove i'll switch them to linux as I don't want to be running obsolete software. I'll switch my desktop and future computers to windows 12 when it comes out, though

Right now, it's all up in the air, as to just what Win-12 will look like, and what the conditions and stipulations for hardware will be. But one thing is certain, just as soon as some code it written at MS, it's gonna get leaked, and the aftermarket programmers will start working on making 12 run on every PC that is running 11 today. I'd bet a Jefferson on it.
I've seen it happen, over and over again.

Those boys at MS, to keep their jobs, have to come up with something that looks Fresh and new. The big blue thingy on Win-11 was a neat twist, but how many people had that "GONE in sixty seconds". I know I did!

Every OS that I've ever used, was built on top of the one that preceded it. If you drill down through Win-11, you'll undoubtedly see some really old code. Probably a few DOS commands floating around in there. There always has to be a "Disk Operating System".

Well it looks like Intel is getting ready for Windows 12 with Meteor Lake and the built in NPU(Nvidia RTX cards already have AI capabilities.)

One thing for sure, when Windows 12 finally gets here, there will be a whole bunch of guys and gals very disappointed, that their old PC's won't run it. But that's when the after-market hackers, crackers and programmers will step in and knock the nastiness out of 12 like they've done with 11. No thanks to MS at all, I'm running Windows 11 on six PC's that in NO WAY conform to MS's compatibility check. At least one of my PC's was originally built in 2008.
The ONE big thing that any PC has to have to run Win-11, is a 64 bit capable CPU.
I have several more PC's that are great little machines, but alas, they have only 32 bit capable CPU's.
However, they can run Windows 10/Pro/32 just fine! When properly tweaked and tuned, Win-10, 32 will look and run just like Win-11.
Win's 10 and 11 are, after all, kissing cousins, and share a lot of under the hood code.
As far as running Programs, one is as good as the other.
And, just for grins, I make them all look just like Windows 7.
