What's new

Will it be Windows 12 or Windows 11 24H2?

It isn't apparent whether the new version of Windows will be called Windows 12 or Windows 11 24H2. I guess we will know for sure later this year.

Windows 11 version 24H2: New features, next-gen AI PCs, and everything we know so far

I have looked at the Windows Insider website and it looks like they are testing some features that may end up future versions of Windows (Windows 12?) in the Canary Channel. Is anybody on this forum testing builds in the Canary Channel? The latest is "Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26020" that was released on January 3, 2024.

Yes, probably the Windows 11 Canary versions are a preview of Windows 12 features (such as UEFI only installation, Legacy mode is dropped, but there is a workaround), but I think it is too soon for a release version. Probably after Windows 10 EOL in 2025.

I've downloaded and installed 24H2 on several of my OLD PC's, that Do have AMD cpu's, and they run FAST, and faultless.
On some others, it will install but then won't boot.
Those are the much older PC's with Intel CPU's, and the lack of the SSE4.2 instruction set, in the CPU.
That is required for 24H2 to boot up and run.

Hope it will be 12 as it might confuse some new members or guests like windows 8.1 did at first.

Also have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and already a member of windows 11 and was a member of windows 10 under a different name.

Also have a Samsung watch 5, Samsung Series 7 55 inch TV, and a Samsung Galaxy 22 Ultra phone.

And all three of these can get windows 11 and 12 so never out of touch
Yeah, that was a real naming mistake. Win-9 would have been nicer. But either way, the program itself was GREAT!

My first install of Windows 8.1/Pro/64 was to a 120GB SSD. I then moved that SSD to several other PC's of different ages and with different CPU's. Win 8.1 adjusted itself to each new environment and ran like it had been installed there. That's the first OS that I ever saw that would do that. Since then, I've found that Windows 10 and 11 can do that too.

The software company, X-Lite, has released Windows 11, 24h2, V2. Smaller, lighter and faster than any previous Windows OS. It's minus most of the bloatware that has loaded down Windows for so long.

I just installed it on this PC, on a separate SSD, as a secondary OS. Boy, is it ever FAST!

And now, it has been moved up to my Every Day OS. I couldn't ask for better.
It's FAST, and I gained even more speed by changing the CAS Latency of my RAM from 11T to 9T.

I love Windows X Lite. I use it on my smallest hard drive laptop. Very quick, clean and neat. :)

The latest and greatest OS for 24H2 Compatible PC's, is X-Lite's Optimum 11, 24h2, V4.1.
I got it, installed it on an SSD and I'm currently working with it to see just what it will do. And, so far it does everything I could possibly ask it to do. And, it's way faster than the original versions of Windows 11.
And with Zero dependence on MS.

Install time was just ten minutes, with NO stupid questions.

Sorry, but that is utter nonsense! Where does the original OS come from that is used by X-Lite to create it's 'hacked' offering? 100% provided by Microsoft and 100% dependent on Microsoft.

What you have is a non-activated, heavily doctored copy of an Insider build of a Windows 11 24H2 with some additional 3rd-party utility software and a number of optional software installation files added . Nothing more and nothing less.

You are just SO wrong. But I'll just let you suffer in your ignorance, while I enjoy a really Great OS.
You MS fan boys are all alike!!!! Wallowing in your ignorance, like a pig in mud!
And you seem to take great joy in misconstruing what I said. I won't even justify your snide comments with any further explanation.
You deserve to be placed on "Ignore".
